What is Quranism?

Quranism (Arabic: القرآنية‎; al-Qur'āniyya) describes any form of Islam that accepts the Quran as revelation but rejects the religious authority, and/or authenticity of, the Hadith collections. We Quranists follow the Quran alone; we believe that the message of the Quran is clear and complete, and that it can therefore be fully understood without referencing the Hadith. One of the main reasons we question the authenticity of the Hadith is that the Hadith literature was written some 250+ years after the death of the prophet Muhammad.

Quranism is similar to movements in other religions such as the Karaite movement of Judaism and the Sola scriptura view of Protestant Christianity. For a fuller insight into Quranism you may wish to read these following articles and e-books:
